It was an event to remember! If you weren't there, you missed a lot including: an incredible Christmas display and many many costumes! Plus all the entertainment and demonstrations! DO NOT MISS THE CHRISTMAS 2009 EVENT!

The following is the article written by our Nest 725 President, Marian E. Hansen:

Christmas at Nest 725

Nest 725 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, celebrated their Christmas Party on December 6, 2008. Held on St. Nicholas Day, over 40 performers participated in the annual event, ranging in age from 7 to 78 years old.

The elaborate stage decorations, prepared by Marian E. Hansen and Chris Borek, reflected the theme: "It's a Christmas" and Sue Zareczny decorated the beautifully accented Christmas tree. Starlight the Clown entertained the attending children with a special magic show presentation. Youth performances included a chair dance routine, ball drill, tumbling, mini trampoline tumbling, poses dance and the "Hot-Hot-Hot" girl's drill.

The adult performance followed. "Wandi the Wizard" a story about a frog and a wizard was told by Terry Jo Marker, followed by the adult Christmas skit: "Santa and his Twelve Sisters", that wowed the audience.

The story was written and directed by Marian Hansen with Sandra Abendroth as co-chair. Actors included Marian Hansen as "Candy Cane"; Sandra Abendroth as "Mrs. Claus"; Michelle Ewald as "Miss Pine Cone"; Rosemary Ewald as "Miss Merry Weather"; Janet as "Miss North Pole Manager"; Shae Fix as "Miss Snowflake"; Loida Woods as "Miss North Pole Chief Contractor"; Sue Zareczny as "Miss Tootie Fruity Recreational Organizer"; Samantha Bielicki as "Miss Holly Berry the Baker"; Audrey Fix as "Madame Giggles School Superintendent"; Michelle Wolniakowski as "Miss Snowbird Stable Manager"; Alyssa Bielicki as "Miss Stargazer"; Chris Borek as "Miss Mistletoe".

Special guest Druhna Christine Puskar, National Director of Physical Education, presented the national awards. Also present were District II President Paul Sadowski and his wife, Beth, Treasurer Connie Cwiok, as well as Legion of Honor Chairperson Joan Beilfuss.

The Bronze Legion of Honor Award was presented to Mary Anna Borowski Lutz and the Nest Flag of 725. The Star of Merit was awarded to Rick Fischer, Kevin Fix and Lance Agubis.

The gentlemen have supported Nest 725 by organizing various performances, teaching of Youth Classes, Meets, District and National events, Polish Fest, Processions and Parades.

The Falcon of the Year Award was presented to Karen Urban. Alan Borek received the presidents award in recognition of his many years of Polish cooking as the Polish Chef. In addition to a plaque, Druh Borek received a Polish Emblem, hot pad, apron and hot mitt. He is the Past President of the Nest and has served as Vice President for the past three years.

The "Grand Entrance" of the program included Santa's Elves played by George Wortz and Kathy Swoverland, Chris Fix as Rudolph and Carrie Douglas as Mrs. Rudolph. A special thank you is in order for our Santa, Steve Blicharz who passed gifts out to the participating children.

Refreshments were arranged by Shannon Borek and Angela Fischer, who also handled the photography and the gifts. A welcomed addition to our staff, Bill Bielicki served as sound man.

By the smiles and comments of the 70 people who were honored at this event, the contributions of these volunteers helped to create a memorable experience fall all in attendance.

Polish Name Days

Yesterday 2010-03-15 : Leona Martyny Today 2010-03-16 : Longina Klemensa Tomorrow 2010-03-17 : Izabeli Oktawii ........In Poland, name days (Polish: imieniny) are widely celebrated, & most calendars contain the names celebrated each day. Celebrations in Poland traditionally involve a gathering of friends & family at the celebrant's home at the dinner table, followed by drinking and socializing, similarly to birthday celebrations. The song "Sto lat" is sometimes sung. Children, and often adults too, receive presents, just like on their birthday.
